Question: EMA Option A The relevance of psychological research is limited to the historical time period in which it is conducted.

Answer: To understand the relevance of psychological research beyond the historical time period in which it is conducted, it is important to consider how and why historical research is linked, or not so so, to contemporary psychological study. To do this, first it is necessary to look at what prompts psychological study such as, political issues in society or the desire to understand the nature of human attachment. It is also important to consider methodological shortcomings and the implications these have on future study procedure. Finally, in looking at outdated theories such as phrenology, as well as the evolution of other early psychological research, the extent to which psychological research is relevant can be highlighted. It will be argued that most psychological research adds to existing knowledge in the field and further explains the human mind and behaviour.
