Answer: Within this essay I will aim to define two key terms; difference and inequality and link them to consumption. Consumption can be defined as ‘the purchase and use of products and services, and one of the defining features of contemporary society’ (Blakeley and Staples, 2014, p.39). Consumption is an integral part of individual’s lives and society as it allows people to make their own choices. As much as individuals may believe they are making their own choices when it comes to consumption, the decisions made are influenced by the differences and inequalities that occur throughout day-to-day life.
