Answer: This paper will evaluate evidence mapped against the professional standards for supporting the learning and assessment of a mentee in practice and therefore inform my role as a future sign off mentor. I shall reflect upon personal experiences and through critical analysis, evaluate strategies to support effective learning and assessment in the workplace and discuss how barriers can be overcome. Additionally I will explore and critically evaluate the contemporary issues that have an influence on practice education within Midwifery.

The Midwife Mentor plays a vitally important role and is seen as an essential tool in the support and development of new practitioners (Steele, 2009).
